Oak Park opens cooling centers amid excessive heat warning
The Village of Oak Park has issued an excessive heat warning for Monday, August 26, and Tuesday, August 27. In response, a cooling center will be established at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (611 Randolph St.), operating from 3-7 p.m. on Monday and from noon-8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Oak Park lifts gas-powered leaf blower ban amid storm cleanup
The Village of Oak Park has lifted the exemption on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers following recent storm damage. Typically, gas-powered leaf blowers are only allowed from October 31 to May 31, while electric leaf blowers can be used year-round. Equipment operation is restricted to weekdays between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and weekends between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., which is more restrictive than the Village Code’s noise ordinance.
