Village announces asphalt patching program from June 20-28
The Village-wide 2024 MFT Asphalt Patching Program will commence on Thursday, June 20. Areas designated for patching have been marked. The contractor, J.A. Johnson Paving, may place "No Parking" signs to allow access to work areas and will notify any residents whose driveway entrances may be affected by this work. The asphalt patching program is scheduled to run through Friday, June 28, and is weather dependent.

Village announces Household Clean-Up Day for June 22
Household Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 22. Each year, the Village organizes this event with services provided by LRS, enabling residents to dispose of various household items such as clothing, draperies, books, furniture, scrap metal, and appliances. Mattresses must be plastic-wrapped and mirrors or glass must be unbroken or wrapped/boxed.

Western Springs launches comprehensive quality of life survey for residents
The Village of Western Springs will conduct The National Community Survey™ at the end of June. Initially, randomly selected residents will receive a mailed invitation to participate. Subsequently, all residents will be able to complete the survey online via the Village's website. The survey aims to help the Village Board and staff identify community priorities and improve the quality of life in Western Springs.

Village presents comprehensive capital infrastructure plan
Village staff and members of the Baxter & Woodman Consulting Engineers team presented the final Capital Infrastructure Plan (CIP) at the February 12, 2024, Board Meeting. The CIP is a comprehensive review of all the Village’s infrastructure to estimate project costs, prioritize projects based on an engineering risk assessment, and provide the Village with tools for long-term planning. Western Springs to host 47th annual Tower Trot on May 25
The 47th Annual Western Springs Tower Trot will take place on Saturday, May 25. Street closures are scheduled from approximately 8-11 am in the Field Park and Old Town North neighborhoods.

Wolf Road closure for water main repairs starts Friday night
Wolf Road, between Burlington and 47th Street, will be closed to traffic starting at approximately 9 pm on Friday evening. The closure is necessary to facilitate repairs on two water main breaks and a hydrant replacement. The road is expected to remain closed overnight and into the early hours of Saturday morning.

Western Springs to hold annual Memorial Day parade and observance ceremony
The Western Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 10778 will present the annual Western Springs Memorial Day parade and observance ceremony on Monday, May 27, 2024. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Hillgrove Avenue near the Western Springs Service Club Pool and will proceed east towards Grand Avenue. Following the parade, a brief service will take place on the Tower Green. All are welcome.

A severe line of thunderstorms is expected to move through the area, bringing destructive winds and possible tornadoes. Residents are advised to have multiple ways to receive weather warnings and to be prepared.

WSPD initiates holiday traffic enforcement campaign
The Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) has launched a high-visibility traffic enforcement campaign, which will run from today until the early hours of Tuesday, May 28. This initiative aims to intensify law enforcement efforts on impaired, unbuckled, and distracted drivers. The WSPD urges all individuals, whether they are driving, riding or hosting, to have a plan in place. It encourages sober driving, minimal distractions and consistent use of seat belts.
