Q1 2019 Recap: Parolees in Chicago convicted of sex crimes

There were 15 offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Chicago during the first quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Cook News.

The data shows that 14 men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 45. The youngest parolee was a 23-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 79-year-old man sentenced in 2014.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Darren King. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2009 when he was 17 years old. He is now 27.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders in Q1 2019 who were convicted of sex crimes.
