Mayor Angelo "Skip" Saviano traveled to Washington, DC to seek more funding for the Grand Avenue underpass project in Elmwood Park. During his visit, he met with Senator Tammy Duckworth, staff from Senator Dick Durbin’s office, as well as representatives from Congressman Mike Quigley’s and Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's offices.
Saviano emphasized the significance of the project, stating, "We are grateful that they understand the importance of fixing one of the most dangerous rail crossings in Illinois. Together, we are working hard to get this underpass completed!"
The Grand Avenue underpass aims to address safety concerns at a hazardous rail crossing in Illinois. Local officials continue to pursue federal support to ensure the project's completion.
