City of Northlake issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
City Hall, the Police Department, local businesses, the Howard H. Rohde Post 888 American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and the Northlake Kiwanis Club and many Northlake residents have been helping the less fortunate in our community during the holiday season for almost 28 years. The program provides for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and gifts for the children. Help is also given to our residents during the rest of the year when a personal or financial crisis may arise. The program is called the NLPD Holiday Cheer Program.
We are asking for monetary donations, gift certificates, toys, or if you prefer, you may adopt a child off the Angel Tree located in the records division of the Northlake Police Department.
Please make checks payable to the NLPD Holiday Cheer Program which is a 501(C)(3) mon profit organization. Any contribution is greatly appreciated. Please drop of your donations by Friday, December 14th at the Northlake Police Department. If you have any questions, please contact Debi Rail at 708-531-5755 or drail@northlake city.com.
The Howard Rohde American legion post #888 located at Roberta and North Avenues, also collects items for vets. Any donation of toiletries, socks, gloves, mittens, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Veteran’s Park District is also conducting a food and toy drive. You can drop off donations at Grant Park, 44 Golfview Drive, Northlake.
Leyden Township collects items for the food pantry. They are also accepting infants and teens clothes, new toys and blankets. The Township office is at 2501 Mannheim Road, right next to Denny’s Restaurant.
The City of Northlake also has a donation box for the Leyden Family Services Food Pantry. Donations can be made year round. Besides food, donations of diapers, toiletries, toilet paper and pet food are also welcome. City hall is located at 55 E. North Avenue, next to the Burger King.
Please remember that the need in our community is year round. Whatever you can give or donate at any time will be appreciated.
