Village of North Riverside Board of Trustees met June 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Mayor Hermanek called the meeting to order with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call. In attendance were Trustee Bianco, Trustee Czajka, Trustee Demopoulos, Trustee Flores, Trustee Mengoni and Trustee Sarro.

Others in attendance were Administrator Belmonte, Finance Director Scarpiniti, Attorney Hayes, Police Chief Niemann, Recreation Director Mrozik, Public Works Director Kutt and Fire Chief Basek.

Approval of Agenda

Trustee Bianco moved seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve the revised agenda for this meeting. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro NAYS: None. Motion carried

Cash Receipt Report

Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Bianco seconded to approve the Cash Receipt Report for the month of May, 2017 totaling $2,192,740.33. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro NAYS: None. Motion carried

Approval of Minutes

Trustee Czajka moved, seconded by Trustee Demopoulos to approve the June 5, 2017 Village Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro NAYS: None. Motion carried

Report of Trustees

Trustee Bianco- ( Water, Sewers, Drainage & Zoning)

Trustee Bianco submitted the Brookfield North Riverside Water Commission Meeting Minutes and Agenda from the June 14, 2017 meeting with the Clerk’s Office.. Trustee Czajka- (Judiciary, Ordinances, Recreation)

Trustee Czajka read the following report from the Parks and Recreation Department:

Day Camp is now underway with 172 families and over 240 campers partaking in the summer fun. We still have availability for children entering 1st through 4th grade this fall. If interested, please call the Recreation Office.

Please join us for the Thursday Sounds of Summer Concert Series beginning this week on June 22nd. Concerts will be held from 7pm-9pm in the rear parking lot of the Village Commons. In the case of inclement weather, concerts will be held in the gymnasium. So join your neighbors for live music and great concession deals on Thursday’s this summer.

Keep an eye out for the Village Newsletter arriving on doorsteps soon. This issue will have all of the July 4th details for the parade and fest at Veterans park.

Trustee Demopoulos( Streets, Alleys, Sidewalks & Garbage)- No report

Trustee Flores- ( Police, Fire & License)- No report

Trustee Mengoni- ( Finance Health & Appropriations)

Trustee Mengoni called for a Public Hearing on July 10th at 6:30 pm for the proposed 2017-2018 Budget Appropriations. A meeting was also called on July 17th at 6:00 pm for the Finance Committee.

Trustee Sarro- (Public Buildings, Grounds, lights, Transportation, Plan Commission)-No report

Mayoral Report

Mayor Hermanek thanked all participants, donors, Recreation Department, Riverside Country club and Youth Scholarship Committee for the well attended Mayor’s Golf Outing. All donations will once again be awarded to college bound residents and day campers in North Riverside.

Mayor Hermanek invited all residents to attend the July 4th parade which will end at Veterans Park and families can enjoy live music, food and drinks. Riverside Country Club has once again invited all North Riverside residents to enjoy their spectacular fireworks display at dusk.

Correspondence

• Thank you card from the Kopach Family.

• Block party request for the 2500 block of 5th Avenue on July 15th.

• Block party request for the 2400 block of 2nd Ave on August 19th.

Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Bianco seconded to approve the above requests. Motion carried unanimously.

Approval of Bills

Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Flores to approve the list of bills submitted for this meeting totaling $852,893.56 and to have them paid out of proper funds when such funds become available. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro NAYS: None. Motion carried

Ordinances and Resolutions

Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Flores seconded to approve an Ordinance Adopting the Prevailing Wage Standard for the Village of North Riverside (17-O-07) and to waive the reading. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro NAYS: None. Motion carried

Trustee Flores moved and Trustee Mengoni seconded to approve an Ordinance Amending Section 2.48.010 of the Village Code Regarding Composition of the Police Department (17-O-08) and to waive the reading. Roll Call Vote:

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro NAYS: None. Motion carried

Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Sarro seconded to approve and Ordinance Amending Title 5 “Business and Regulations” in the Village of North Riverside (17-O-09) and to waive the reading.

AYES: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro NAYS: None. Motion carried

Unfinished Business-None

New Business

Carlos Garcia took an Oath of Office for the position as Police Commander.

Audience

• John Bork invited all residents to attend the Spiritual Assembly at Mater Chrisiti Church.

• Mayor Hermanek informed resident that resident only parking signs have been installed on the 2200 block of 2nd Avenue to help with their parking situation.

Adjournment

Trustee Demopolous moved and Trustee Mengoni seconded for adjournment of this meeting at 7:20 pm. Motion carried unanimously.
