Village of North Riverside Board of Trustees met April 17.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Mayor Hermanek called the meeting to order with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call. In


attendance were Trustee Bianco, Trustee Czajka, Trustee Decosola, Trustee Demopoulos,

Trustee Mengoni and Trustee Wilt.

Others in attendance were Administrator Belmonte, Attorney Hayes, Police Chief Niemann,

Recreation Director Mrozik, Public Works Director Kutt and Fire Chief Basek.

Approval of Agenda

Trustee Demopoulos moved seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve the revised agenda for

this meeting. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Decosola, Demopoulos, Mengoni, Wilt

Nays: None. Motion carried

Cash Receipt Report-No Report

Appoval of Minutes

Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Bianco to approve the April 3, 2017 Village

Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Decosola, Demopoulos, Mengoni, Wilt

Nays: None. Motion carried

Report of Trustees

Trustee Bianco- (Streets, Alleys, Sidewalks & Refuse)- No report

Trustee Czajka-(Buildings, Public grounds, lights, Public Services & Transportation)-No report

Trustee Decosola- ( Judiciary, Ordinances, Recreation)-No report

Trustee Demopoulos( Water, Sewers, Drainage & Zoning)

Trustee Demopoulos submitted the Brookfield North Riverside Water Commission Meeting

Minutes from the March 7th, March 20th, and April 6, 2017 Special Meetings along with the

April 12, 2017 Regular Meeting minutes and agenda with the Clerk’s Office.

Trustee Mengoni- ( Police, Fire & License)-No report

Trustee Wilt ( Finance, Health & Appropriations)-No report

Mayoral Report

Mayor Hermanek thanked Chris Devine, President of the Police Benevolent Association, for a

successful and well attended Easter Egg Hunt.

Correspondence

 Request from the Sons of the American Legion to fundraise at 1st Avenue and Cermak

Road on May 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th and 13th

.Trustee Wilt moved and Trustee Decosola seconded to approve the request from the Sons of

the American Legion. Motion carried unanimously.

Approval of Bills

Trustee Wilt moved, seconded by Trustee Demopoulos to approve the list of bills submitted for

this meeting totaling $218,652.95 and to have them paid out of proper funds when such funds

become available. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Decosola, Demopoulos, Mengoni, Wilt

Nays: None. Motion carried

Ordinances and Resolutions- None

New Business

Mayor Hermanek read a brief biography about Probationary Officer Josh Czerak and took an

Oath of Office with Clerk Ranieri.

Audience

Gene Eichorst, 2505 Westover, addressed the board with her concerns of opting out of the

Cook County Minimum Wage Increase Ordinance. Ms. Eichorst believes that earning more

money will encourage residents to spend more money in North Riverside.

Josie Palanek, 2503 Westover, addressed her concerns of opting out of the Minimum Wage

Ordinance and expressed the importance of having sick time offered to employees.

Roxanne Franco, an employee of a company that works with victims of sexual abuse and

domestic violence, addressed her concerns as well about the importance of having sick time for

these victims who are usually required to attend court dates and are not allowed to take any

time off of work.

Barbara Wilson Thanked Administrator Belmonte for her situation with her vehicle sticker.

Adjournment

Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Bianco seconded for adjournment at 7:20 pm. Motion

carried unanimously.
