Cook County, under the leadership of Board President Toni Preckwinkle, is initiating its "Community Voices" event series with the first of four community meetings this week. The inaugural meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 69 W. Washington, Chicago, IL 60602 (22nd Floor, Rooms G & H). Residents are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts on which American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) programs should continue beyond 2026.

Oak Park opens cooling centers amid excessive heat warning

The Village of Oak Park has issued an excessive heat warning for Monday, August 26, and Tuesday, August 27. In response, a cooling center will be established at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (611 Randolph St.), operating from 3-7 p.m. on Monday and from noon-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
