The WSPD responded to a reported aggravated vehicle carjacking and armed robbery on Sunday morning at 6 am.
The WSPD would like to remind residents that carjackings are on the rise in Cook and DuPage County. Here are some tips to help you stay safe:
- Be Aware: Pay attention to your surroundings.
- Lock Up: Keep vehicles locked when inside.
- Stay Focused: Limit distractions such as cell phones, which can make you less aware.
- Keep Your Distance: Leave space between yourself and the vehicle in front of you so that if needed, you can exit and drive away.
- Trust Your Instincts: If you feel uncomfortable, remove yourself from the situation immediately.
If you see suspicious activity or behavior, do not hesitate to call 911.
