Mrs. Diana Dominick, director of the Cicero Senior Center, recently spoke about the atmosphere and sense of belonging that define the center for older adults in the community. She expressed gratitude for the support she receives from her husband, Town President Larry Dominick, and the Cicero Board of Trustees.

“I feel truly blessed,” Mrs. Dominick said, noting the unwavering support of her husband, Town President Larry Dominick, along with the Cicero Board of Trustees. “Their commitment, combined with the dedication of our amazing staff, makes it possible to create a home away from home for our seniors.”

Mrs. Dominick acknowledged that many seniors may hesitate to participate in activities due to health concerns or because it can be difficult to leave home. However, she believes attending is worthwhile.

“Coming to the center is like attending a birthday party every single day,” she explained. “There’s laughter, friendship, and something fun for everyone.”

The center provides a daily schedule designed to appeal to a variety of interests and abilities. Seniors have opportunities to socialize over coffee in the morning or join games such as bingo and penny drop. Health-focused activities include yoga and exercise classes tailored specifically for older adults.

For those interested in outings, special trips are organized so participants can share new experiences together. Recently, seniors took part in an orchard visit where they picked apples and enjoyed time outdoors as autumn began.

“It was like a mini-vacation,” Mrs. Dominick said with a smile. “Moments like these remind us how important it is to enjoy life, no matter our age.”

Looking ahead, Mrs. Dominick emphasized her ongoing commitment to maintaining an environment where all seniors feel welcome and valued.

“This is more than just a center,” she added. “It’s a community, a family—and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built together.”
