The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has approved a road closure on First Avenue (IL Route 171) for the week of September 15 to September 22, following a request from Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad. The closure is scheduled to begin at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15 and will continue until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22. The purpose of the closure is to allow BNSF to conduct repairs on the railroad underpass.

During this period, all traffic will be detoured via Ogden Avenue, La Grange Road, and 31st Street. According to IDOT, "While most of the traffic will be routed along the detour, increased traffic should be expected on roads adjacent to the closure. The closure might also increase traffic on Forest Avenue in Riverside and Washington, Prairie and Maple Avenues in Brookfield. Expect extended travel time around Riverside-Brookfield High School and Hollywood School. Please note Forest Avenue/Ridgewood Road will be remain open to vehicular traffic."

Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time during this period and follow posted detour signs.
