Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has announced the introduction of the Cook County Property Tax System Daily Progress Tracker. This new online resource enables public monitoring of the progress in implementing a modernized property tax system, involving Tyler Technologies and various county offices, including the Assessor, Board of Review, Clerk, and Treasurer.

The project aims to replace outdated technology with a unified platform that improves data management across agencies. This modernization is crucial for efficiently handling over $18 billion in taxes annually used for essential services such as education and local government functions.

While nearing completion, this modernization effort has faced challenges due to coordination among independently managed offices. The Office of the President has facilitated collaboration without directing decisions on system requirements or approvals. Instead, it provided administrative oversight during the RFP process and supported project management and funding.

The newly launched tracker serves as a tool to enhance transparency by detailing each stakeholder's roles and progress. "Cook County is committed to transparency and accountability," said Preckwinkle. "This new webpage will allow residents...to see daily progress as well as responsibilities, deadlines met and missed."

Guidehouse, a third-party consultant, will manage updates on weekdays, outlining stakeholder roles and current status. Residents are encouraged to visit www.cookcountyil.gov/propertytaxtracker for regular updates.
