Construction on the 3700 block of Grand Boulevard, spanning from Grant Avenue to Brookfield Avenue, will commence on Monday, April 21. The contractor will initiate work on the northeast side, focusing on the sidewalk area and parking lane as part of Stage 1. This phase is expected to last around seven weeks, after which similar work will be conducted on the southwest side in Stage 2. The village will issue a notice before Stage 2 begins.
To facilitate the construction, a traffic detour will be implemented beginning Monday, April 21. Northbound traffic on Grand Boulevard will be rerouted via Prairie Avenue to Washington Avenue, then west on Washington Avenue to Veterans Circle, before merging back onto Grand Boulevard. Southbound traffic will not be affected by this detour.
During working hours from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., parking on the northeast side of the street will not be available, though parking will be allowed on the southwest side. After 4:30 p.m. daily, equipment and materials will be removed from the northeast side to add more parking space in the evenings.
Businesses are advised to encourage their employees to refrain from parking on the 3700 blocks of Grand Boulevard and Prairie Avenue to make room for customer parking. Alternative parking for employees is available on Brookfield Avenue and Burlington Avenue.
For any queries regarding employee parking, contact Deanne Adasiak at Brookfield Business & Economic Development at dadasiak@brookfieldil.gov.
Updates on the project will be available weekly on the 3700 Grand Boulevard/Brookfield Avenue GIS project map on the village website. Additionally, updates via email are available through subscription in the Village of Brookfield E-Newsletter, managed by Constant Contact.
