Brookfield has announced its infrastructure improvement projects for 2025, with a budget allocation of $24.6 million. This follows a significant year in 2024 when the village executed nearly $20 million worth of capital work.

The major projects planned for this year include the 2025 Lead Water Service Replacements, estimated at $10 million, and the 2025 Water Main Improvements, projected to cost $6.3 million. Other notable initiatives are the improvements on the 3700 block of Grand Boulevard/Brookfield Avenue and various street enhancements across the village.

The funding for these projects involves grants and loans from different sources. For instance, "Village staff obtained nearly $4 million in grant funding from the Central Council of Mayors’ Surface Transportation Program" for improvements on Grand Boulevard/Brookfield Avenue. Additionally, zero-interest loans from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) will support water main and lead service line replacements.

Brookfield's commitment to upgrading its infrastructure is evident through these projects aimed at maintaining streets, replacing outdated water systems, and enhancing public spaces like Congress Park Station's north side.
