Brookfield Police Chief Michael Kuruvilla has issued a warning to residents about identity theft scams involving jury duty. Several individuals have reported receiving phone calls threatening arrest for not attending jury duty and requesting sensitive personal information.

The Cook County Office of Jury Administration has clarified that it will never request Social Security numbers or other sensitive information via phone, text, or email. Official communication is conducted only through First Class or Certified U.S. Mail.

For additional details on these scams, residents are advised to visit the Circuit Court of Cook County website.
