River Forest Police are continuing their investigation into a commercial burglary and related shooting that occurred on December 7, 2024. Officers responded to a break-in at Ulta Beauty located at 7231 W. Lake Street in River Forest, Illinois. Upon arrival, they found the front door glass shattered and discovered that three offenders had entered the store and stolen several items before fleeing.

While on site, officers heard gunshots nearby at Lake Street and Harlem Avenue. A male victim reported being shot in what was later identified as a road rage incident. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police reviewed street camera footage and license plate reader images, revealing that the suspects involved in the burglary were also connected to the shooting. The vehicles used by the offenders were reported stolen but were later found by Chicago Police near 105th Street and Maryland Avenue.

Inside one of these vehicles, police found evidence from the burglary, including an AK-style firearm and approximately $50,000 worth of stolen goods. Detectives obtained search warrants to process the vehicles further.

Collaboration between River Forest Police, Chicago Police, and Cook County Sheriff's Police led to locating four suspects—three adults with active warrants and one juvenile—in Chicago's 5th District. The juvenile was released to his family while investigations continue.

The ongoing investigation is supported by resources from multiple law enforcement agencies including River Forest Police Department Chief James O'Shea who can be contacted for more information.
