Village of River Forest Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Oct. 30

Here are the minutes provided by the commissioners:

Call to Order

A meeting of the Village of River Forest Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order at 6:00 pm by Michael T. Trucco, Chairperson.

Roll Call

Roll Call was taken. A quorum was present.

Upon roll call, the following persons were:

Present: Commissioner Michael T. Trucco, Nate Mellman, and Julie Jacobs

Absent: None

Also Present: Sergeant Detective Labriola, Commander Michael Swierczynski, and Commission Secretary Morris

Public Forum (Citizen Comments)

None

Approval of Minutes

Commissioner Trucco asked if this item could be moved to the end of the meeting for the Commissioners to discuss.

Correspondence

Commissioner Trucco stated that Police Chief O’Shea has asked to fill two vacancies.

Old Business

Commissioner Trucco asked Sergeant Detective Labriola to conduct backgrounds for applicants 7-8.

We will then exhaust our register and need to create a new list or create a lateral list.

New Business

Commissioner Trucco made a motion to adjourn to closed session 6:12 pm to interview Andrew Richter for entry level patrol officer. Commissioner Mellman seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Commissioner Trucco and seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to return to open session at 6:39pm. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Mellman made a motion to extend a conditional offer of employment to Andrew Richter for entry level patrol officer. Commissioner Jacobs seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Trucco made a motion to adjourn to closed session 6:45 pm to interview Jean-Pierre Medard Bourdeau for entry level patrol officer. Commissioner Mellman seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Commissioner Trucco and seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to return to open session at 7:06pm. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Jacobs made a motion to extend a conditional offer of employment to Jean-Pierre Medard Bourdeau for entry level patrol officer. Commissioner Mellman seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Trucco made a motion to adjourn to closed session 7:13 pm to interview Vincenzo Leopardi for entry level patrol officer. Commissioner Mellman seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Commissioner Trucco and seconded by Commissioner Mellman to return to open session at 7:35pm. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Trucco explained to Vincenzo Leopardi that they’ve been authorized to fill two vacancies and that two conditional offers had been extended that evening. However, we anticipate two additional vacancies in the next 60 days.

Commissioner Trucco mentioned that after November 6th, he’ll know his availability to tentatively schedule the next interview session. Commissioner Jacobs indicated that she will be away beginning January 2nd. Therefore, she would have to connect virtually.

Applicant Armani Thompson failed the background investigation. Commissioner Trucco made a motion to strike Armani Thompson from the eligibility list for entry level patrol officer.

Commissioner Mellman seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Trucco asked that Commission Secretary Morris circulate the meeting minutes from September 13, 2022 to date for the Commissioner to review. If they can review them within the next seven days. If satisfactorily, she can post.

A motion was made by Commissioner Trucco and seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously, and the meeting was adjourned at 7:42pm.
