Village of Franklin Park Fire & Police Commission met Aug. 26

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Call to order: The meeting for the Fire & Police Commission was called to order by Commissioner Maritza Souchet at 5:30 pm. 

Roll Call / Quorum: Present is Commissioner Maritza Souchet, Commissioner Guillermo Rios, and Secretary Dinorah Rangel. Also in attendance, Chief Mark Stewart and Director Mike Witz. 

Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the July 15, 2024, meeting minutes was made by Commissioner Souchet and seconded by Commissioner Guillermo Rios. Motion passed. 

Communications: 

Fire Chief Stewart: 

Director Mike Witz: We are advertising for new hires. We are changing the ad to list pay as $64,042 to $111,097 top pay with retire health care. We are far behind on pay and will bring to the board. Contract talks will begin in January there is anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000 discrepancy in pay. We are down just one officer and right now our pay is lowest compared to other agencies. 

Dinorah Rangel: The testing dates are October 26th that is the earliest we can do. Orals will be November 17th and those are the dates we can do. 

Unfinished Business: None 

New Business: Commissioner Maritza Souchet made motion to go into Executive Session at 5:33 pm, Guillermo Rios seconded. Moved into Executive Session. Motion to come out of Executive Session made at 6:42 pm. 

Motion made to offer Fire Fighter position to Brendan McMannas and send a denial letter to William Hernandez.

Adjournment: Motion to adjourn at 5:44 p.m. made by Commissioner Maritza Souchet and seconded by Commissioner Guillermo Rios with all in favor.
