The Brookfield Farmers Market has been voted the top farmers market in Illinois for the second consecutive year, according to the American Farmland Trust's America's Farmers Market Celebration contest. Additionally, it secured the first position in the Midwest region and ranked fourth nationwide.
The Brookfield Farmers Market, operated by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, will receive $750 for its national ranking and $100 for being the top market in Illinois.
"As I reflect on my third year with the market and second as its manager, I am filled with immense gratitude," said Gina Sharenow, the Brookfield Farmers Market Manager. "Our market's remarkable growth could not have been achieved without the unwavering support of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, our dedicated market committee members, the Village, Public Works, and the entire community. Each time I've proposed a new idea, the immediate response has been, 'How can we help you?' This embodies the incredible spirit of cooperation that thrives in our town."
Sharenow highlighted that Brookfield is a unique community with individuals eager to contribute to collective success. She noted that shared enthusiasm has enabled them to expand their impact through initiatives like their scholarship program. "Thanks to our earnings from the American Farmland Trust and generous sponsorships, we were able to award four scholarships to deserving teens this year. I am excited to announce that we will continue to offer this program in 2025," she added.
The Brookfield Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 12 at the west and south parking lots of Brookfield Village Hall located at 8820 Brookfield Ave. For more information, visit their website.
