Village of Schiller Park Historical Commission met Sept. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER: Meeting Called to order at 10:11AM by Dan Sliwicki

ROLL CALL: Dan Sliwicki, Diana Caffero (absent), June Oulund, Warren Schuhrke, Claudia Irsuto, Leslie Williams, Hilde Kilian

LIAISON: Russ Klug (absent)

GUESTS: Kim Boryszewski

VOLUNTEERS: Kitch Gorzynski

LIBRARY REPRESENTATIVE: RAE ELGIN

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was said.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion made by Warren Schuhrke to accept August 8th minutes, Hilde Kilian seconded, All agreed.

GUESTS AND PUBLIC COMMENTS: Kim Boryszewski stated inside door will not be open once we have established visitor hours for the Historical Society. Keycards will be made for all commissioners. We can make arrangements with school office for entry into storageroom. Access will be through Door 3 only. Emergency card will be issued for access through school in emergency only. Cards turn off alarm when used so notify Kim Boryszewski or Mike Dency (phone numbers are available) when leaving so alarm will be turned back on. Always have two people in building from Commission. Wednesdays is early dismissal at 2:20 so alarm can be changed for that time to enter school. Kim Boryszewski also stated that everyone was impressed at the Historical Society at open house September 10, 2022. Kim Boryszewski left after she spoke.

LIBRARY REPRESENTATIVE: Rae Elgin said they are in the process of getting ready for the library open house September 24, 2022. Rae Elgin would like June Oulund interviewed. Dan Sliwicki suggested having Kitch Gorzynski conduct the interview as soon as possible. Kitch Gorzynski will pick up mail from library. Leslie Williams will have mailing address changed at post office. Village will move more Historical Society on Thursday at 1:30PM. June Oulund will be at library and Kitch Gorzynski and Leslie Williams will be at Washington School.

LIAISON REPORT: RUSS KLUG WAS NOT IN ATTENDANCE.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Will have bank book changed to Huntington Bank. $2,586.41 was withdrawn from money market and deposited into checking. $2,500.00 was sent to Judy Wing, received certified card back but check was not cashed yet. $8,690.24 is in checking account. Motion: Warren Schuhrke and seconded by June Oulund, Roll Call, all agreed. Claudia Irsuto left meeting at 10:42AM.

COMMUNICATIONS: Dan Sliwicki stated when ring bell at School, will show up on phone screen and mail still going to library but should be changed.

CHAIRPERSON REPORTS: No Report.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: June Oulund stated we will need help cleaning at library by September 24, 2022. June Oulund also said people were fascinated with bear at open house among other items at Washington School September 10, 2022 and many people came through Historical Exhibit. June Oulund suggested Dan Sliwicki call Joe Blume to see if he is available this week Thursday. June Oulund suggested exhibit in hallway be changed the end of October for November 11th, Veteran’s Day, exhibit. Hilde suggested the middle of October we will start changing it.

NEW BUSINESS: Hilde Kilian reported NEIL, meeting past Saturday September 10th, Mitchel Museum is now part of NEIL. Norwood Park will host next month-second Saturday, Schiller Park will host June, 2023.

EXECUTIVE SESSION: NONE

ADJOURNMENT: 11:22AM Warren Schuhrke made First Motion and Hilde Kilian Seconded, All Agreed.
