AMITA Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Apr. 29.
Eight AMITA Health hospitals have been awarded “A” grades for the spring 2021 release from The Leapfrog Group, the top safety grade awarded for performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, infections and other patient harm.
By earning “A” grades Leapfrog’s biannual Safety Grade study, the hospitals rank among the safest in the nation. The AMITA Health hospitals are:
- AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook
- AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center GlenOaks
- AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale
- AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center La Grange
- AMITA Health Mercy Medical Center Aurora
- AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center Chicago
- AMITA Health Saint Joseph Hospital Chicago
- AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center Chicago
“This period of rating was particularly challenging, given the difficulties presented by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Stuart Marcus, AMITA Health executive vice president and chief clinical officer. “That our facilities were able to maintain the highest levels of safety throughout this trying time is a testament to the strength and dedication of our physicians, nurses and associates.”
Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public. It’s the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospitals’ prevention of medical errors and other harms to patients in their care.
“An ‘A’ safety grade is an elite designation that your community should be proud of,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “The past year has been extraordinarily difficult for hospitals, but AMITA Health shows us it is possible to keep a laser focus on patients and their safety, no matter what it takes.”
