State House race: Republican McDermed wins voter tally in Cook County

Margo McDermed led Democrat Matthew J. Hunt in votes cast in Cook County for the District 37 state House race, according to the latest vote count.

McDermed appeared to outpace Hunt by a margin of 10.9 percent on Tuesday in the county.

In comparison, the 2014 winner, Republican Margo McDermed, won by a margin of 35.2 percent in that jurisdiction, beating Democrat Nichole Serbin, who received 2,977 votes to McDermed's 6,209.
