City of Northlake City Council met December 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Sherwin asked everyone to stand for the pledge of allegiance. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call:

Present: Alderman Straube, Feldmann Contreras, Padilla, Werba, Gonzalez, Grochowski And Patti

Others Present: Fred Paul, Treasurer

Carol Lampard, Finance Director

Nancy Pauletto, City Clerk

Mark Sterk, Attorney

Norm Nissen, Chief Of Police

Dale Roberts, Superintendent Public Works

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the regular meeting held on November 20, 2017. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held November 20, 2017; seconded by Alderman Padilla Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. Alderman Gonzalez abstained.

Alderman Patti made a motion to re-appoint Rebecca Morgan to the Youth Advisory Board; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for roll.

Roll Call: Alderman Straube, Feldmann Contreras, Padilla, Werba, Gonzalez, Grochowski And Patti

Nays: None

Motion To Re-Appoint Rebecca Morgan To The Youth Advisory Board Carried

Legacy Professionals made a presentation regarding our 2016 Fiscal Year Audit.

Alderman Patti made a motion to pay the warrants and vouchers if and when the funds become available; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call: Alderman Straube, Feldmann Contreras, Padilla, And Patti Werba, Gonzalez, Grochowski

Nays: None

Mayor Sherwin reminded everyone that Winterfest is Saturday, December 9th from 11:00 to 3:00.

Mayor Sherwin said that the cook county soda tax is over.

Alderman Feldmann thanked Carol Lampard for our financial stability.

Mayor Sherwin presented Ordinance O-21-2017; An Ordinance Establishing the Number of Liquor Licenses and Amending Section 3-3-4-6 of the City Code of the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois. Alderman Patti made a motion to approve; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call: Alderman Padilla, Werba, Straube, Gonzalez, Feldmann Grochowski Contreras, And Patti

Nays: None

Motion To Approve Ordinance O-21-2017; An The Number Ordinance Of Liquor Establishing Licenses And Amending City Code Section Of The 3-3-4-6 City Of Of Northlake, The Cook County, Illinois Carried

Alderman December Patti 31, 3016; made seconded a motion by to approve Alderman the Padilla. City of Mayor Northlake Sherwin Financial called Statements for the roll.

Nays: None

Motion To Approve The City Of Northlake Financial Statements December 31, 2016 Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve O-22-2017; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Ordinance O-22-2017, An Ordinance Adopting The Annual Budget For Calendar Year 2018 For The City Of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois Carried

Alderman Patti made to approve Ordinance O-23-2017; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call: Alderman Straube, Feldmann Contreras, Padilla, Werba, Gonzalez, Grochowski And Patti

Nays: None

Motion To Approve Ordinance O-23-2017; An Ordinance For The Levy And Assessment Of 2017 Taxes Paid In The Year Beginning January 1, 2018 And Ending December 31, 2018 For The City Of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois Carried

Alma Hernandez talked about backyard chickens. She would like the city to pass an ordinance permitting backyard chickens. Mayor Sherwin said he asked the City Council to research this awhile back. He said there would have to be reasonable regulations regarding yard size and the number of chickens. Mayor Sherwin asked for copies of her research and said that the City Council will discuss this after January 1st.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
