The calls in Brookfield included 44 fires - 20 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 14 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $475,950 in fire loss - or about $10,817 per fire.
The department also received 199 false calls, including one malicious call and 198 other false calls.
The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury and one civilian fire-related death.
The Brookfield Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 24 active employees and 23 retired or inactive employees, was $610,323 in debt as of December 2015, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $13,871 for every fire in 2016.
