Repaving work is taking place along Brookfield Avenue between Prairie Avenue and Woodside Avenue, resulting in temporary changes to parking and traffic for commuters. The project will impact the availability of commuter parking spaces during construction hours.

On Wednesday, August 27, the contractor will prepare the pavement surface for a new layer of asphalt by applying an oil coating along Brookfield Avenue from Prairie to Woodside. According to officials, "During this time, Brookfield Avenue will be open to parking and traffic, but there may be some delays."

Work continues on Thursday, August 28. "The Contractor will be completing the first layer of asphalt on Thursday, Aug. 28 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this time, parking will be unavailable along Brookfield Avenue north of the Prairie Avenue Metra Station. Parking access will be reestablished by the end of the day. While this work is being completed, it is recommended that you utilize the parking areas highlighted below on Brookfield Avenue and Burington Avenue."

The paving operations are scheduled to continue on Friday, August 29. "The Contractor will be completing the first layer of asphalt on Friday, Aug. 29 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this time, parking will be unavailable along Brookfield north of the Hollywood Metra Station. Parking access will be reestablished by the end of the day. For questions or concerns during construction, residents can contact Daniel O’Malley at Edwin Hancock Engineering or Cari Sheehan at Brookfield Public Works via email or phone.

Officials acknowledge that while these improvements may cause inconvenience during construction days, they expect that completion of this significant project will improve neighborhood infrastructure.
