Metra will introduce an updated schedule for its BNSF Line to Aurora starting Monday, September 8. The changes include new weekday express trains and expanded hourly service on weekends.

The revised schedule is based on customer feedback and ridership data, with the goal of reducing capacity issues during peak travel times. Two inbound express trains will be added to the weekday morning service, stopping at Lisle through Downers Grove before running express to Chicago. For evening commuters, two outbound trains will run express from Chicago to Congress Park and then make all stops to Fairview Avenue, while another two will go express from Chicago to Downers Grove before continuing as local service to Aurora.

Reverse commuters will see a change in Train #1268’s schedule. This train will now leave Aurora at 3:40 p.m., making all stops between Aurora and Westmont, then running express to LaGrange Road and Cicero. It will no longer stop at Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Western Springs, Brookfield, Hollywood, Riverside, Harlem Avenue, or Berwyn. Passengers traveling to those stations can use Train #1312 departing Fairview Avenue at 4:12 p.m.

Weekend riders will benefit from four additional trains on the BNSF schedule. This creates hourly inbound service from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m., and hourly outbound service from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m., with identical schedules for Saturdays and Sundays. A late-night outbound express train to Downers Grove is also being added; it leaves Chicago at 10:30 p.m.

Minor adjustments have been made to departure times for several other trains as well. The new schedule is available online.

Passengers using those stations will be served by Train #1312, which will depart Fairview Avenue at 4:12 p.m."
