Repaving work is underway on Brookfield Avenue between Prairie Avenue and Woodside Avenue, leading to temporary restrictions on commuter parking during construction hours. The paving operation will affect parking access near two Metra stations over several days.

On Thursday, August 21, pavement milling is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking will be unavailable along Brookfield Avenue north of the Hollywood (Zoo) Metra Station and north of the Prairie Avenue Metra station platform. Access to these parking spaces will be restored by the end of the day.

Work continues on Monday, August 25, when crews will lay the first layer of asphalt between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this period, parking will not be available along the north side of the Hollywood (Zoo) Metra Station. Normal parking access is expected to resume after construction ends for the day.

The following day, Tuesday, August 26, similar work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., affecting parking along Brookfield Avenue north of the Prairie Avenue Metra Station. Parking in this area will also reopen at day's end.

Residents are advised to use alternate highlighted areas for parking during these periods.

For further questions or concerns about the project, Daniel O’Malley from Edwin Hancock Engineering can be reached at domalley@ehancock.com or by phone at 630-864-7081. Cari Sheehan from Brookfield Public Works is also available at csheehan@brookfieldil.gov or by phone at 708-485-2540.

"While we understand that there is sure to be some inconvenience during the construction of these improvements, the good news is that this significant project will leave the infrastructure in your neighborhood in far better shape," according to information provided by officials.
