Officials are reminding residents to report any suspicious activity during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago from August 19-22 by calling 9-1-1.

The DNC will be held at two venues: daytime activities at McCormick Place (2301 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., Chicago) and evening events at the United Center (1901 W. Madison St., Chicago). Security zones will be established around both locations, extending approximately two blocks in each direction.

Attendance at the convention is limited to credentialed delegates, media, and guests.

Street closures around McCormick Place will start on the night of August 16, and around the United Center on the evening of August 17. Rolling street closures will occur as attendees travel between venues and airports. Public transportation routes near these areas will also experience modifications.

Residents of Oak Park should anticipate additional travel time if commuting into Chicago during the convention. Local events such as Microbrew Review, the start of the school year, and Thursday Night Out will continue as planned.

For more information, visit the City of Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communication website or download their app for updates. Oak Park residents can receive local updates via social media or sign up for emergency alerts at www.oak-park.us/notifyme.
