Pamela and Mike Healy's front garden at 4200 Arthur Ave. has been recognized by the Brookfield Beautification Commission as the winner of its Garden Recognition Program for July.

The Healys received a Garden Recognition sign to display in their front garden, along with a $50 Enjoy Brookfield gift card, which can be used to purchase goods and services at businesses throughout the village.

"When they purchased this house three years ago, the landscape/garden was an overgrown mess," said the Healys. "They were determined to have a beautiful garden once again and, after three seasons of hard labor, they are happy with the results." The couple noted that their front garden is mostly perennials with an accent of annuals for color.

Their garden was selected from 11 nominations made by Brookfield homeowners. The Brookfield Beautification Commission will recognize one more garden for August and is accepting nominations through Aug. 31 for this month's Garden Recognition Program. To nominate your garden—only public-facing gardens are considered—fill out the Garden Recognition Program form available on the Village website.
