Applications are now being accepted for the next Brookfield Citizens Police Academy, which begins on September 5. The academy offers Brookfield residents aged 18 and older an opportunity to gain insight into police operations.

The 10-week program will convene every Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., running from September 5 to November 14, with no class on October 31. Participants will meet police officers, experience real procedures and techniques, learn about the legal and ethical aspects of policing, and understand how residents can contribute to community safety.

Program highlights include seminars on patrol tactics and investigations, use of force and self-defense, firearms instruction and safety, and crime scene processing. No prior law enforcement experience is required.

Applications can be picked up at the Brookfield Police Department located at 8820 Brookfield Ave., or downloaded online. Completed applications should be returned to the Police Department or emailed to pdhelp@brookfieldil.gov.

For questions or further information, contact pdhelp@brookfieldil.gov or call 708-485-1777.
