Nominations sought for 2024 community awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2024 Cavalcade of Pride, Historic Preservation, Sustainability, and Fitzsimmons Public Health awards.

The Cavalcade of Pride awards, administered by the Community Design Commission, recognize property owners who have maintained and improved the exteriors of their homes and businesses. Nomination categories include residential, multi-family, garden, commercial, and sign. The deadline for nominations is September 16. The Historic Preservation Awards are chosen annually by the Historic Preservation Commission. Categories include restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive use, additions/new construction, stewardship, detail, and design. Nominations need not be in a historic district; interior work may be considered alongside exterior work. The deadline for nominations is October 18. The Green Awards are presented each year by the Environment & Energy Commission to recognize community members and organizations that demonstrate leadership in advancing equity-centered climate action and sustainability. Categories include community organization, local business, and collaborative initiative related to Oak Park’s climate plan—Climate Ready Oak Park. The deadline for nominations is October 31. The Fitzsimmons Public Health Awards are presented annually by the Board of Health to honor individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to creating a healthier Oak Park community. Additional details and a nomination form can be accessed at www.oak-park.us/fitzsimmonsawards.
