Village of Franklin Park Tree Preservation Commission met June 18

1. A possible new board member will be reviewed by the Village Board in July.
Potential new board members are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Village Board.
2. The Tree Board Guidelines document remains under review.
3. June 8th, 2024 Railroad Days: Native plants were handed out to attendees. The Bee Board had tables with honey tasting, and a bee guessing game, and informational tables regarding pollinators, trees, and Bee City USA. Three tree requests were made during the event.
4. On June 10th at a press conference at The Morton Arboretum, it was officially announced that the Village of Franklin Park, through the Inflation Reduction Act funding to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources administered by CRTI, was awarded $109,770 Urban and Community Forestry Grant to plant 140 trees, provide education and community engagement in disadvantaged areas, train staff and print signs. SFPFD Smolen delivered a Grant acceptance speech at Morton Arboretum.
5. Additional hours have been granted by the Police department for the seminar. It will begin at 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct 12, with a 2 hour set-up window at 11 a.m.
6. Emailed Dan Corcoran regarding his availability to assist during Seminar with any important technical IT set-up issues for speakers. He will inform us of his availability that day.

8. Discuss adding a ‘pictures’ link, such as “Around Town, Events, etc,.”, that briefly mentions Tree and Bee Board events that took place, and/or shows pictures.
