The Village of Oak Park has announced that it will be hosting a celebration of Holi – the Hindu festival of colors on April 14. The event is open to the entire community and will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on the south lawn at Village Hall.
Participants are encouraged to dress in clothes that can withstand colored powder, with white t-shirts and tops being recommended for those who want to fully embrace the colorful festivities and take memorable photos in the available photo booths.
Holi, known as the festival of colors, is a vibrant and joyous Hindu festival that symbolizes new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil. It is celebrated by people around the world, marking the arrival of spring.
During the celebration, people of all ages, genders, and religions come together to play, laugh, and smear each other with brightly colored powders. It is a time to let go of inhibitions, dance to lively music, and enjoy delicious food.
