In Cook County's nine west suburban townships, State's Attorney Kim Foxx received 42,511 fewer votes in the 2020 Democrat primary, when compared to 2016.
That's according to an analysis of Cook County election returns by West Cook News.
Of 298,272 ballots cast in 2016, her first run for State's Attorney, Foxx won 155,166 votes in west suburban Cook County, 52 percent of the vote in a three-way primary against then-incumbent Anita Alvarez of River Forest and Chicago attorney Donna More.
She won a majority in two of the nine-- Oak Park, winning 59 percent of the vote, and Proviso, winning 58 percent.
In 2020, 112,655 ballots were cast in Cook County's west suburban townships, and Foxx won just 112,655, or 47 percent of the vote in a four way primary against More, Bill Conway and Bob Fioretti.
All eleven north suburban townships cast fewer ballots for Foxx in 2020 than in 2016.
Her vote totals fell most in the townships of Lyons (-12 percent), Norwood Park (-11 percent), Riverside (-9 percent) and River Forest (-9 percent).
Foxx received just 19 percent of the vote in Norwood Park, 24 percent of the vote in Lyons, 25 percent of the vote in Leyden and 29 percent of the vote in Cicero.
Foxx still won a majority in Oak Park, but with 55 percent, earning 1,701 fewer votes than four years earlier.
She also won a smaller majority in Proviso, with 55 percent, 6,231 fewer votes than in 2016.
4,311 vote margin in 2020
Foxx won 43 percent of the suburban Cook County vote in the 2020 Democrat primary. Her opponents combined for 57 percent of the vote.
She won 52 percent of South Cook County townships and 31 percent of North Cook townships.
Foxx won the 2020 City of Chicago Democrat primary with 284,955 votes (55 percent) to Conway's 142,175 (28 percent), More's 62,333 (12 percent) and Fioretti's 25,142 (five percent).
"Not Foxx" garnered 229,650 votes in the 2020 City of Chicago Democrat primary.
All told, Foxx won the 2020 Democrat primary with 447,974 votes to 443,663 votes for her three opponents, a difference of 4,311.
This was a contrast from 2016, when Foxx routed incumbent Anita Alvarez in the Democrat primary, winning 645,738 votes to Alvarez' 317,594 and 144,063 for More.
Foxx won 58 percent of 1,107,395 votes cast in 2016.
She won the City of Chicago with 415,627 votes (62 percent) to Alvarez' 171,882 (26 percent) and More's 79,073 (11 percent).
Foxx also won suburban Cook County in 2016, receiving 230,111 votes (52 percent) to Alvarez' 145,712 (33 percent and 64,990 (15 percent) for More.
Foxx is backing Clayton Harris in the March 19, 2024 Democrat primary against retired Illinois Appellate Court Judge Eileen O'Neill Burke.
