Village of Broadview Board of Trustees met Jan. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. CALL TO ORDER 

The Regular Board Meeting of Monday, January 16, 2024 was called to order by Mayor Thompson at 7:30 p.m., in the  Council Chambers at 2350 South 25th Avenue, Broadview, IL 60155. 

ROLL CALL 

Upon roll call by Kevin McGrier, Village Clerk, the following answered Present: Trustee(s), J. Shelby, A. Senior, P.  Chao-Malave, S. Armour, J. Abraham(REM), Mayor Thompson Absent: J. Miller, (Arrived 7:36pm) There being a quorum the meeting was called to order. 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG 

Everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. 

PLEDGE OF CIVILITY 

Clerk McGrier recited the Pledge of Civility 

MOMENT OF SILENCE 

Everyone joined in a moment of silence. 

* Motion to allow Trustee Abraham to participate electronically due to illness by Trustee Shelby and Seconded  by Trustee Armour

Discussion: Trustee Shelby read the warrant list of bills over $2500.

VII. VILLAGE OFFICER REPORTS (NO PRESENTATIONS)

VIII. OLD BUSINESS: NONE 

MAYOR THOMPSON ASKED THE VILLAGE CHAPLAIN PASTOR JOHN HARREL TO BLESS THE VILLAGE AS WE PREPARE TO SWEAR IN OUR NEW FIRE CHIEF DEREK BRYANT 

IX. NEW BUSINESS: 

A. A RESOLUTION APPOINTING DEREK BRYANT TO THE OFFICE OF FIRE CHIEF FOR THE  VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS. 

Motion to approve by Trustee Chao-Malave and Seconded by Trustee Senior 

• Discussion: Trustees welcomed Chief Derek Bryant to the community. Mayor Thompson recognized Interim Fire Chief Matt Martin. Mayor Thompson explained the selection process of our new Fire Chief.

B. SWEARING IN OF FIRE CHIEF DEREK BRYANT. 

• Fire Chief Bachert of Calumet City swore in Chief Bryant 

C. AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND RATIFYING A POLICY REGARDING UNSCHEDULED INTERCITY BUSES FOR THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS. 

Motion to approve by Trustee Senior and Seconded by Trustee Shelby 

Discussion: Mayor Thompson gave details about this Ordinance. Trustee Miller had comments. Aye: Trustee(s) A. Senior, J. Shelby, P. Chao-Malave, J. Abraham, S. Armour, J. Miller

D. AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND RATIFYING RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING UNSCHEDULED INTERCITY BUSES FOR THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS. 

Motion to approve by Trustee Senior and Seconded by Trustee Shelby 

Discussion: Mayor Thompson gave details about this Ordinance.

E. CONSIDERATION OF AN APPLICATION FOR A BUSINESS LICENSE REQUESTED BY UNI UNI LOGISTICS, INC. AT 2526 GARDNER ROAD TO OPERATE IN THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS. 

Motion to approve by Trustee Senior and Seconded by Trustee Armour 

Discussion: Mayor Thompson asked Mr. Hannah to give details about this consideration.
