1. Review and Vote acquiring the Bee City USA designation

2. Tree Committee website link review: comments/suggestions

3. SFPFD Smolen:

a. Communicating with Kathy Kubeczko to invite local High School students to write for the site. Tree Committee requirements for their article (word count/subject).

b. High School education event for Fall 2023 and subject to be addressed.

c. High School Student Tree Commission Logo design

4. SFPFD Smolen planted area on Belmont ave/ police station

5. Cicada emergence 2024. Comments or concerns

6. Should the committee propose to the Village:

a. Permit/or fee requirement for cutting down healthy trees? This will help prevent healthy trees from being destroyed

b. Creating an Tree Preservation Ordinance for the protection of planted trees, all landmark trees in Franklin Park, including on private property (Similar to the Village of Glenview's Tree Preservation Ordinance)

“The Village of Glenview's Tree Preservation Ordinance was adopted on November 7, 2000 and amended on January 6, 2015. All landmark trees are protected. Landmark trees are defined as trees that are 16 inches or more in diameter at the breast height (DBH) measured at 4 1/2 feet above the ground, which ar a higher quality species such as oaks, hickories or maples. Other trees that are a lesser quality species, such as cottonwood or box elder, must be 20 inches DBH in order to be protected. Measurement to determine that a tree is smaller than 16 inches in diameter must be done with DBH tape at 4 feet above the ground or pre tape at base of tree.”

8. DAN: Do you have a tree seedling/young tree you would like to donate to Franklin Park? Tree donations?

9. Revise Franklin Park Tree Preservation Commission introductory letter

10. What/where is the oldest tree in Franklin Park? Photograph it and write brief article for the Village website

11. Ideas for a Tree Calendar as a fundraiser: Submission of best tree pictures by residents.

12. Protective guide as a safeguard for the future of our young trees
