Cicero School District 99 Board of Education met Oct. 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. The meeting was called to order by President Tomschin at 5:00 p.m.

II. Roll call was conducted and the following members were recorded present: President Tomschin, Vice-President Dominick, Secretary Terracino, Members Manouzi and Moreno. Absent: Members Couch and Segura.

III. A quorum was established.

IV. The pledge to the flag was recited.

V. Comments from the audience via conference call or in person

Marisa Mills, 7th Grade Teacher and President of Cicero Council, thanked everyone who helped with negotiations for the PSRP Unit, including Vice-Presidents Ruthie Jennings, Stephanie Colson and Maria Tovar, who worked super hard during the process and was proud for all the work that they did. She thanked everyone on both sides of the negotiation team for working together to ensure that everyone was satisfied.

VI. President Tomschin asked the Board Members if there was a need to go into Executive Session. They indicated there was none.

IX. Action Item

President Tomschin requested a motion on Action Item A.

A. Approval of Master Agreement between the Board of Education Cicero School District 99 Cook County, Illinois and Cicero Council Union – PSRP Unit, West Suburban Teachers Union, Local 571, American Federation of Teachers, July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2026

It was moved by Member Moreno and seconded by Member Manouzi to approve the Master Agreement between the Board of Education Cicero School District 99 Cook County, Illinois and Cicero Council Union – PSRP Unit, West Suburban Teachers Union, Local 571, American Federation of Teachers, July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2026. Roll call: Yeas: President Tomschin, Vice-President Dominick, Secretary Terracino, Members Manouzi and Moreno. Nays: None. Absent: Members Couch and Segura. Motion carried.

X. Old Business

There was none to report.

President Tomschin echoed what Ms. Mills said. He said it was the last piece of a puzzle for then to make a huge impact on the lives of not only the students but the families. He noted it was a huge investment for being able to work closely with the children. He thanked them for helping them get this done and adding an additional 30 minutes of the school day beginning next year. He looked forward to see how it plays out with the data they start seeing with student achievement. He thanked them from the bottom of his heart. He noted that the bargaining sessions were emotional at times, but they got through it because they are all working for one common goal being the children and the families of the Town of Cicero.

XI. President Tomschin informed the audience that the next regularly scheduled Board Meeting would be held on November 9, 2022, 6:30 p.m. at Cicero East School

XII. Adjournment

It was moved by Member Moreno and seconded by Secretary Terracino to adjourn from Open Session at 5:03 p.m. All members present voting aye. Nays: None. Absent: Members Couch and Segura. Motion carried
