The All-Star U-10 girls' softball team was honored at the village board meeting for their incredible success in the summer season. The team was made up of all-star players from all of the teams in the area, and they were able to win the District 9 championship after beating La Grange, meaning they played in the state tournament that was hosted at Brookfield’s own Danny Hall field.

Michael Garvey, Village President of Brookfield, had some encouraging words for the team.

“I know you guys came really close to making it all the way,” Garvey said. “We're very, very proud of you. And I know a lot of you guys were playing together for a long time, and you're still young and you got some more years to go. So, we just wanted to congratulate you in front of the whole village.”

The All-star U-12 girls' softball team was also honored at the village board meeting. They too won the district title and went to their state championship tournament. Like the U-10 team, they lost in the state tournament to the team that would go on to win the first-place title. The U-12 team even went into extra innings in their final game because it was so close.

All the girls from both teams had their names read as they were brought up to the front. They got to take pictures with their coaches and family members and had a team picture taken with the board members. Some of the coaches spoke about how great of an experience it was for the girls and how much community support they had while playing and competing.
