10 Village President

10.1 5/3/22 Village Board Meeting at 6:30 p.m.

11 Village Administrator

Administrator Espiritu opens discussion regarding workers’ compensation and general liability insurance regarding the Berkeley Public Library. He says the Village has been paying the premium for this insurance for the Library and asked if the Village should continue to pay for this cost considering the Library is a separate government agency. Village has no oversight over Library staff or operations, but is held liable because we are paying the Library’s premium. Trustee Graf-Stone said the Library should seek their own policy. Trustee Mathews agreed to have them pay the costs but suggests transition plan to phase them out, which Trustee Salemi agreed with. Trustee Perez suggests they should have their own policy for insurance. President Lee asked Village Administrator Espiritu to attend the next Library Board meeting to inform them about the Village Board’s decision and to work out a phase out plan for the Library to pay for the costs for workers compensation and liability insurance.
