Lyons Township Republican Committeeperson Katie Justak, running as an incumbent, is hopeful for Republican chances in the 2022 midterm election in Illinois.

“Overall, generally speaking, Republicans have an opportunity because a lot of the dissatisfaction –– again, I'm speaking in general terms –– has to do with people feeling that they don't really have control of what in their lives,” Justak told West Cook News. “They want to be able to have less government interference.'

Justak described what the community is looking forward to after the election.

"They want to have more say in their child's education," she said. "They want to be able to –– they're tired of the amount of taxes they have to pay. Granted, I live in Cook County. So, I mean, but it's even bloated for Cook. Based on conversations I've had individuals and just in the media in general, you know, people really they really want to take back what but they feel they should have a say in and they want less government intrusion in their lives and that those are foundational Republican principles that I believe most people identify with.”

In December 2021 Justak was appointed as Lyons Township Republican Committeeperson by Cook County Republican Party Chairman Sean Morrison.

"2022 is going to be a critical election year and voters in Cook County are looking towards the Republican Party for leadership. I'm proud to welcome these three talented leaders into the Cook County Republican Party,” Morrison said of the appointment of Justak and two others.

Justak is a mother to four whose background is in communications and public relations. She is a graduate of St. Mary’s College and served as a 2nd vice president for the Lincoln Series. She has also served as vice-chair of the Citizens’ Council of La Grange. Justak has been involved in Republican politics since 2009.

Justak recently noted her commitment to the position via her Twitter account. “Lyons Township Republicans need principled leadership for today and tomorrow! I’m running for Lyons Township Republican Committeeperson. Please visit my website: http://citizensforkatiejustak.com for campaign information. Thank you!” she said on Twitter.

The primary election is on June 28.
