There have been 576,045 confirmed coronavirus cases in Cook County as of April 26, with 6,965 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Chicago (579,135 cases) and Cook County (576,045 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago's death toll from the virus stands at 7,365, while Cook County recorded 6,965 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 0, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 701,018 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 1,451,381 were male and 1,628,174 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 18,353, while female deaths stood at 15,231.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 21,118 whites, 6,192 African-Americans, 4,668 Hispanics, 1,032 Asians, and 574 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
