Village of Schiller Park Village Board met Dec. 28.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
I. Call to Order Village Clerk Jos called the public hearing to order at 11:30 A.M.
II. Present: Rosa Jos, Village Clerk; Brett Kryska, Village Manager; and Joe Montana, Corporate Counsel
No other persons were present.
III. Reading of Legal Notice Village Manager Brett Kryska stated that the Legal Notice for the public hearing was published on Friday, December 10, 2021, in the Chicago Sun-Times and that the Legal Notice was mailed to the owners of properties abutting and adjacent to the portion of Florence Avenue proposed to be vacated. The Village Manager read aloud the legal description of the portion of Florence Avenue that was being proposed to be vacated.
IV. Discussion on Proposed Vacation of a Portion of Florence Avenue Lying East of River Road Corporate Counsel explained that the Village is proposing to vacate the portion of Florence Avenue lying east of River Road to an adjacent property owner. The adjacent property owner is 5035 N River Rd., LLC. The adjacent property owner is proposing to pay the Village $115,000.00 for the portion of Florence Avenue lying east of River Road. Vacating the portion of Florence Avenue lying east of River Road will serve the public interest by eliminating Village maintenance costs and potential liabilities to the Village. The vacation of that portion of Florence Avenue lying east of River Road will generate real estate taxes for the Village and other taxing bodies. Corporate Counsel entered the following documents into the record:
1. The Legal Notice of Public Hearing and Certificate of Publication, as Exhibit A.
2. The Notice of Public Hearing and Agenda, as Exhibit B
3. Letters dated December 10, 2021, addressed to adjoining and abutting property owners along with the receipt of personal service returned to the Village, as Exhibit C
4. The Plat of Vacation, as Exhibit D.
Village Manager Brett Kryska asked if there was any person who would like to make a comment or objection on the proposed vacation of that portion of Florence Avenue lying east of River Road. No person was present at the public hearing. The Village Manager asked if there was any written comment or objection on the proposed vacation of that portion of Florence Avenue lying east of River Road. No written comment or objection was received by the Village.
V. Public Comment: There was no one in attendance that wished to make a public comment. The Village Clerk's office did not receive any written public comment.
VI. Adjournment
The public hearing adjourned at 11:36 A.M.
