CITY OF BERWYN: Green Neighbor Guide Is Available

Springday

City of Berwyn issued the following announcement on Apr. 2.

Spring is here! Make plans now to manage the flow of storm water on your property.

Consider whether installing a form of green infrastructure would be beneficial to your goals. Rain barrels, bioswales, rain gardens, and dry wells are effective forms of green infrastructure; they help to capture excessive rainwater on your property.

You may also consider installing permeable pavement driveways and paths, as well as disconnecting downspouts. The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) has provide the Download the "Green Neighbor Guide” today to learn more about these tools, including how to install them:

* It is important to note that gardens are not to be planted on the City’s parkway.

If you would like to request a tree to be planted on the parkway in front of your home, you can send a request to: requestatree@ci.berwyn.il.us

Before planting any saplings in a city parkway, please contact Public Works (708) 749-4700 to verify the location.
