Northlake FPD responds to 21 fires in 2018

Northlake Fire Protection District responded to 269 calls in 2018 - 12.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Northlake included 21 fires - nine structure fires, four vehicle fires and eight other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $529,450 in fire loss - or about $25,212 per fire.

The department also received 246 false calls, including two malicious calls and 244 other false calls.

The Northlake Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $4,649,861 in 2017.

The Northlake FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 17 active employees and 16 retired or inactive employees, was $428,694 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $14,783 for every fire in 2017.
