McCook Fire District responded to 244 calls in 2018 - 14.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in McCook included 48 fires - 33 structure fires, six vehicle fires and nine other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $56,000 in fire loss - or about $1,167 per fire.

The department also received 194 false calls, including four malicious calls and 190 other false calls.
