Village of Western Springs Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Aug. 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Present: Chair Marcia Buell; Commissioner Janet Dahl; Brian Budds, Director of Law Enforcement Services; Susan Depner, Law Enforcement Services

Absent: Commissioner James Maragos; Patrick Kenny, Director of Fire and EMS; Ingrid Velkme, Village Manager; Ellen Baer, Director of Administrative Services; Michael Jurusik, Village Attorney

Agenda Items:

1. Call to Order

Chair Buell called the meeting to order at 7:02 a.m.

2. Roll Call

Chair Marcia Buell and Commissioner Janet Dahl were present. Also present were Brian Budds, Chief of Police, and Susan Depner, Police Department Administrative Services Coordinator.

3. Approval of Minutes - August 5, 2020

MOTION: Commissioner Dahl made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 5, 2020 meeting. Chair Buell seconded the motion. All present were in favor and the motion was approved by voice vote.

4. Public Comment

None.

5. Certification of the Final Eligibility List for the Position of Police Officer

Chief Budds spoke. He said the final eligibility list for the position of police officer reflects the preference points added for eligible candidates. Four candidates were eligible for preference points; three submitted their points and one declined to submit his points. The top two candidates remain the same. The list will be effective from today's date for two years or until it is exhausted.

Chair Buell asked Chief Budds when a candidate will be hired to fill the department's unfilled authorized position. Chief Budds replied that for budgetary reasons, most likely the position will not be filled until the new year.

MOTION: Commissioner Dahl made a motion to approve certification of the Final Eligibility List for the Position of Police Officer. Chair Buell seconded the motion. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote.

6. Other Business

None.

7. Adjournment

MOTION: Commissioner Dahl made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Chair Buell seconded the motion. The motion passed by a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 7:17 a.m.
