Analysis: Bellwood pays $5.09 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Bellwood Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.6 percent of the $1,300,544 the Bellwood Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.09 for every $1 from pension members, according to a West Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Bellwood contributed $1,086,730 to the fund, which saw a $18,302 decrease in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $213,463, or 16.4 percent, in 2018. Another $351 came from other unspecified sources.
