Westchester School District 92.5 Board of Education met Dec. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

1. The special meeting of the Board of Education of School District 921/2, Westchester, Illinois, was held in the Westchester Middle School Multi-Purpose Room, at 1620 Norfolk Avenue, on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, commencing at 5:30 p.m.

I.A. ROLL CALL: On the call of the roll the following members were found to be present: President Slager, Secretary Quiroz, Members Douglas-Pieniazek, Ortiz, and Wesolowski. Member Boyd and Vice President Voegtle were absent at the call of the roll. Also present at the meeting were Philip Salemi and Sheri Wagner. Guests present: None.

I.B. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

1.C. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED: A motion was made by Mrs. Douglas-Pieniazek, seconded by Mrs. Ortiz, that the Agenda be approved as presented. When the question was called, the vote was taken with the following results: 5 Ayes; O Nays; 2 Absent. The President declared the motion carried.

II. AUDIENCE COMMENTS: None Mrs. Boyd arrived at 5:38 p.m.

III. POLICY: The Board reviewed and discussed Policies 7:20, 7:100 and 7:190. The policies will be brought before the Board for approval at the December 12 Board meeting.

IV.A. BOARD RETIRED TO CLOSED SESSION: A motion was made by Mrs. Quiroz, seconded by Mrs. Wesolowski, that the Board retire into Closed Session to discuss the placement of individual students in special education programs and other matters relating to individual students. When the question was called, the Roll Call Vote was taken with the following results: 6 members voting Aye, Boyd, Douglas-Pieniazek, Ortiz, Wesolowski, Quiroz, Slager; O Nays; 1 Absent, Voegtle. The President declared the motion carried and the Board retired at 5:57 p.m.

IV.B. BOARD RECONVENES: The Board reconvened in Open Session after the conclusion of its Closed Session at 6:07 p.m.

V. MOTION TO ACCEPT AND ADOPT THE REPORT OF THE RESIDENCY HEARING OFFICER REGARDING STUDENTS #20191106100A, #20191106100B, 20191106100C and #20191106100D, HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 2019, AND DETERMINE THAT STUDENTS #20191106100A, #20191106100B, 20191106100C and #20191106100D ARE NOT LEGAL RESIDENTS OF DISTRICT 9212: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mrs. Quiroz, seconded by Mrs. Wesolowski, to accept and adopt the written report of the Residency Hearing Officer regarding Students #20191106100A, #20191106100B, 20191106100C and #20191106100D, held on November 6, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., and determine that Students #20191106100A, #20191106100B, 20191106100C and #20191106100D are not legal residents of District 9212. The amount of tuition due is $14,912.24. When the question was called, the Roll Call Vote was taken with the following results: 6 members voting Aye, Boyd, Douglas-Pieniazek, Ortiz, Wesolowski, Quiroz, Slager; O Nays; 1 Absent, Voegtle. The President declared the motion carried.

VI. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Mrs. Douglas-Pieniazek, seconded by Mrs. Wesolowski, that the Board meeting be adjourned. When the question was called, the Roll Call Vote was taken with the following results: 6 members voting Aye, Boyd, Douglas-Pieniazek, Ortiz, Wesolowski, Quiroz, Slager; 0 Nays; 1 Absent, Voegtle. The President declared the motion carried and the Board adjourned at 6:09 p.m.
