CITY OF BERWYN: Residents & Property Owners of Riverside Drive

Pavement

City of Berwyn issued the following announcement on July 9.

Please be advised that the City of Berwyn will be resurfacing Riverside Drive, from Harlem Avenue to Cermak

Road. The project is scheduled to begin on July 22, 2019, weather permitting. The scheduled improvements

for the construction include asphalt surface paving, pavement patching, spot curb and gutter replacement, spot

sidewalk removal and replacement, driveway pavement removal and replacement (only adjacent to curb and

gutter replacement areas), pavement striping and combined sewer lining. The project has been awarded to KFive Construction Corp. by the City of Berwyn through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The project will begin with concrete work. During the concrete curb and gutter installation and

driveway pavement replacement, vehicular traffic over these surfaces will be prohibited for a period of three (3)

days to provide proper curing for the concrete. The contractor will be responsible for notifying residents with

driveways when to move cars off their driveway. During construction operations, the contractor will be

responsible for posting “NO PARKING” signs when parking is prohibited in the construction area. Riverside

Drive residents are encouraged to park on other local streets adjacent to Riverside Drive.

During the paving operations, fresh oil will be installed on the street, and residents are asked to keep

vehicle and foot traffic over the primed surface to a minimum. The prime coat is a tar-like substance that is

very difficult to remove from shoes and body surfaces.

Normal construction hours will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional

work on Saturdays. Your cooperation on all phases of construction is appreciated, in order to make this project

run as smoothly as possible. Should you have any questions or require additional information, please do not

hesitate to contact the project engineer, Novotny Engineering, Inc. at (630) 887-8640. You can also visit the

project website at www.berwynprojects.com for progress information. The project is schedule to be completed

by the fall of 2019.
