The price of local government in 2017: Village of Forest Park

The Village of Forest Park budget was $49.75 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $10,211 per household.

That's an increase of 3.3 percent from 2016, when the village spent $48.18 million, or $9,889 per household.

Forest Park has 4,872 households and a population of 14,123.

Since 2001, the Village of Forest Park budget has grown by 124 percent, from $22.21 million. The village population has fallen 5.8 percent over the same period, from 14,995.

Salaries accounted for 19.9 percent of village spending in 2017. Forest Park property taxpayers paid $9.88 million for 127 full-time employees and 70 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 174 full-time employees and 25 part-time employees, and spent $9.26 million.
